‘Burning Ice’ Film and Discussion

In collaboration with Take One Action Film Festival and the Edinburgh Centre on Climate Change, the University of Edinburgh Global Challenges event series kicks off with a screening of the Cape Farewell film Burning Ice.

'Burning Ice' follows 45 scientists and artists - including Jarvis Cocker, Robyn Hitchcock, Martha Wainwright, KT Tun...stall, Marcus Brigstocke and Ryuichi Sakomoto - on a Cape Farewell expedition to Disko Bay, Greenland to witness the physical threat of climate change and develop a cultural response.

Followed by a panel discussion chaired by Andy Kerr, Director of the Edinburgh Centre on Climate Change. Panelists are Zambian activist Sheila Kambobe (Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection, SCIAF), Philippa Faulkner (Vice-President Services, EUSA), and Andrew Ormston (Drew Wylie Ltd, sciart specialist).

There will be the chance to meet local and University-based groups taking action on climate change and other global issues, as well as a stunning new photographic exhibition of Peter Nienow and Andy Sole's research in Greenland.
